I was honored to receive the "LITA LITA/Library Hi Tech Award for Outstanding Communication for Continuing Education in Library and Information Science" for 2010. The award was presented at the recent American Library Association Annual Conference in Washington, DC.
Thanks to all of my colleagues that came to share the moment with me at the awards reception and especially to all those involved in the nomination, letters of support, and participated in the award committee. Special thanks to the Library Information Technology Association and Emerald Group, publisher of Library Hi Tech, which co-sponsor the award.
Library Technology Guides was cited as one of the main accomplishments of the award. The creation and upkeep of this site has been one of my most fulfilling professional projects. I'm delighted that it has garnered recognition as a contribution to the profession. I hope to find ways to continue to improve and expand the site as a useful service to everyone that has a stake in library technology.
The award was inscribed as follows:

There is no other library technology resource that can match Library Technology Guides for its breadth, depth, and quality. Marshall’s peers recognize not only his meticulous attention to detail and his ability to express complicated ideas clearly, but they also praise him for his willingness to freely share his knowledge. His incredible professional dedication to documenting the changes in the ILS industry, his intelligent commentary, and his ability to take the long view of trends and technologies will benefit libraries and librarians for years to come.
