waster. A lesson in longsword with Maestro Paul MacDonald
of Edinborough at St. Peter's College in Jersey City, sponsored by
the Martinez Academy of Arms. Topic under discussion is the correct
relationship of elbow (mine) to windpipe (his). Maestro MacDonald
bases his teaching on the work of two 15th-century masters of arms,
Fiore de' Liberi and Filippo Vadi. The work on recovery of the
western tradition is one of the more exciting developments in
contemporary martial arts. Many of the treatises exist only in their
original early editions or even in manuscript. Enough to keep a
small army of scholarly polymaths busy for a long time!
